Shirt #2!!!!

I've done it again! Another Intramural championship under my belt! This time in flag football!

I'm still in soccer for this semester, and I'm way excited. I've wanted soccer for the past 6 years, and I really think we have a good chance this team Go 69th ward!

Tis the Season!

So the end of the year is fastly (and yes that is a word I can use) approaching us. Which means a couple of things, first off Thanksgiving is just around the corner. I love this time of year because of what it does to people. People seem to be a lot nicer. People are more willing to give, and more willing to receive. More willing to say thank you. It just makes me happy. I love that we get to have 2 months every year to devote to being thankful and to giving to other people. And let's be honest, who doesn't love listening to Christmas music and the great feeling that brings!
This is random, and probably doesn't make sense, but the moral of the story is, I LOVE THIS TIME OF THE YEAR!!

Update

As usual it's been a while, so here is what i've been up to.

I ran a half marathon, and I only had to walk once, and only one month after getting my gallbladder out. I think I'll probably run another one at the end of the summer, and get a better time!
I played in 4 intramural sports, and of course got out of the tournament right before the final. Don't get me started on this, we really should have one. But I am planning on playing at least 2 sports this summer, so I'm looking to win another shirt this year.
I went with my family to California for a week.

Natalie and Ali on the beach.

Michael and me with Bob

Michael with his usual nutritious breakfast

Ali styling the hat of the trip
Natalie's glasses broke the first day, and by the looks of this picture Rachel doesn't approve.
Bekah and Michael playing in the water. The sunset was amazing.
Shamu and friends. (Isn't this a great picture? My skills are improving looks like:) )The family waiting at line to go safari through Africa. Notice Ali's upside down sunglasses. :)Natalie and Ali petting the animals.
Ali and me on the 'up and down'
Michael chillin' in the casino.

So that is about it. Hope you enjoyed!

Music

For those of you who know me, you know that I have a love for music. Whether it be playing my guitar and singing. Singing and dancing to something. Or just listening to it. I love music.
There is so much music out there, and I like just about all of it. One awesome thing about music, well it's awesome and can also be well not so awesome is it can change your mood in just a few seconds. It's amazing that listening to happy songs can make you happy, and listening to depressing songs can totally ruin your day. Along with that, the music they put on movies totally can make or break the movie. I don't know if anyone has noticed this, but in scary movies when the person is looking through the house, or some intense part of the movie, the music totally makes it scary or intense. If they just had the video going without the music, the movie wouldn't be that scary. Isn't that amazing? It's cool how songs can relate so much to your life, sometimes when you can't quite explain something, you can find a song that someone else has already written out that fits your thoughts or emotions or whatever. Awesome, yeah?
In correlation to this, I just want to give props to my mother for making me/letting me take piano lessons growing up. I didn't always enjoy my teacher, in fact my favorite piano teacher i only had for a couple of months and now he is brother-in-law, but I learned a lot from piano. more than just music. And I'm glad that I could learn that, so that I could teach myself the guitar. And so that I can sing in choirs.

Conclusion:
I LOVE MUSIC!!!!

Intramurals

So it is time again for intramurals, and I am so excited. After winning that shirt last year, I'm hoping for at least 2 repeats this summer. I have like 7 chances to win one. So let's hope it works out for me.
Intramurals is one of the great things about living in a BYU ward still. Pick up games are always fun, but with intramurals you are always at least 95% sure that you will have a game to play with full teams. There are a few downsides to intramurals however, one being that not all of the refs, umps, etc are good. In fact, many of them are quite terrible. Now I know it can be difficult to ref or ump, I've done both in my life, but seriously, at least listen to what the players have to say. Especially in intramurals where the rules are always strange and something is always bound to go wrong or be misunderstood.
In the end though, intramurals are just fun. It's fun to play sports with other people who want to play. It's nice to run hard, kick hard, swing hard, throw hard, whatever your sport of choice may be. Intramurals is one way to do that. So for all you who enjoy a little healthy competition and a good sweat. Sign up. It's game time!

Good Bye Gallie

So after many months of strange stomach pain, I finally had Gallie (my roommates name for my gallbladder) taken out last week. It's amazing to me how a small sac attached to your liver can affect you so much. It's not even a necessary organ, and yet, just like your appendix can create all sorts of problems. I'm now safely on the road to recovery, and am having to remind my dad everyday that no I can't run yet. However, I can't wait to be able to be out playing in the sun (when it comes out again).
Other than the whole surgery thing, life is the same. Just thought I'd send out a quick update for anyone who actually reads this. I'll hopefully have something exciting happen soon, and I'll post that along with some other awe inspiring thoughts soon.

Music: pandora and stuff

I discovered Pandora a couple of years ago while working at the library. It was either Kirsten or Elise that introduced it to me, and since then I have been a huge fan for the most part. I've started listening to it while at work so that I have some sort of background noise to get me through the day. It's nice to get music streaming with no commercials, but there are a few quirks that bug. They only let you skip 6 songs every hour. What if there are 7 bad songs in a row? What do you do? Just listen to the bad song? I won't stand for that, so I just go to another station and come back, and I know you might be thinking, well that isn't a big deal, well guess what, it's not. But it's still annoying.
Anyway, I also don't like that they play Jack Johnson songs about every 3 songs on almost every station. Don't get me wrong, I like Jack Johnson every once and a while, but to listen to him every 8 minutes, not a fan, and no matter how many times I thumb down his songs, they still keep coming up. I'm going to conquer Jack Johnson next week, that's my goal.
Speaking of music, as I listen to the radio and to Pandora, I've come to realize that there are a lot of people who think they can sing that are on the radio, who really can't sing. Like they could probably go to a karaoke bar and the drunk people may clap for them (now I can't really know if this would happen, because I've never been to a karaoke bar, but I can only imagine.) But really, I turn on the radio, and if they aren't singing terribly, they are probably singing about something stupid.
No really, what happened to good music? There is some on the radio, but it is seems that good music is getting harder and harder to find. I may have to go back to the good old oldies...

Slacker

I'm a slacker in most aspects of my life, I figure I might as well not change that by writing on my blog regularly. But it has been a long time so here is an update.
I'm still training for the marathon, and everyday after my run I realize how tired my legs are, and then I don't want to do anything else. Which is pretty convenient, because I don't have anything else to do. So I read, or sit around and help my roommate with homework, or cook. Needless to say, I think I need some new hobbies.
Anyway, work is...well work. And I really can't wait for the summer when it's going to be really busy, and I'm going to be able to get up and do stuff.
I started writing this at work on my break, and am now finishing it at 11:00 p.m and I'm too tired to finish it, so this is all you get. I'll try to be less of a slacker in the future. Check back for more exciting thoughts!

Life in a New Year

So I've got some new goals for the new year, and I really think that they are going to be good for me. One of my goals is to get in shape, and my way of doing that is to run a marathon. I'm running the Ogden marathon in may with two of my sisters. And as scary as it seems to run a marathon, I'm really really excited. I've planned out my training schedule and I'm really excited to be working out. I've done a decent job of working out so far, and it feels great. So the thought of running 26.2 miles in 5 months...awesome.
I've also just purchased a car, this is a new and exciting adventure. I've never owned a car, and I decided since I'm now a college graduate that it was high time to get a car. So with a little help from my grandpa, I'm not the proud owner of Hank, a torreador red 2006 ford focus. Hank is a great car, and I'm really excited to have this new freedom.
My job is going well, I'm learning a lot still and when I have enough to do, I really don't mind being there. It's going to be nice to be super busy as the summer season approaches.
So I've got some other goals, like going to bed at a decent time, and whatnot, so in order to keep some of those, it's time for me to hit the sack.
I'll write more more often. (That's another goal) Check back soon, I'll post some pictures.
